Big BC day 2

Had a walk on the Jasper Town Trail the next morning before boarding the train, got rained on for a bit.  The train dropped people at the first stop then it was much quieter and more intimate.  Met Diane the service manager and only employee to see everyone - she was great, friendly and tireless.
It was hot and hazy in PG when we arrived.  Had good sushi, believe it or not.

Big BC day 3: Prince Rupert

Got to the PG train station early and away we went.  Another beautiful day.  Reading, writing, looking out the window, we fell into a nice slow rythm.  Got into mountain country and we followed the Skeena River to Prince Rupert.  Got in late, too tired to do anything but crash at b&b.  Amazing room overlooking the harbour.
Getting off the train, the smell of the sea was so heavy.

Big BC trip, day 1

August 2014 we did a big BC trip.  From Edmonton we took Via Rail to Prince Rupert where we met Shelly and Kelly.  Then we went to Haida Gwaii, then we took the ferry from Prince Rupert to Port Hardy on Vancouver Island.  Then we rented a car and drove to Courtenay.  We each flew home from there.

On Day One we got up at 6:30 am only to catch our train from Edmonton only to find the train was delayed for two hours... Then for four hours...

We got into Jasper about 5 pm?  Saw a grizzly right in the trainyard!  A nice lady saw us dragging our duffle bags and gave us a ride to our little cabin.  We had dinner on the patio of a nice Greek restaurant, delicious pizza.  Then back to our cabin where we tried to be quiet so as to not disturb the neighbored who were sitting outside.  :)

July 2014- Sulpher Skyline and Opal Hills

Forgot to post this earlier- we took the trailer to Pocahontas campground in Jasper for two nights.

The day we arrived we did good old Sulpher Skyline and finished up at  Miette hot springs.

The next day, overcast and cool, we did the incomparable Opal Hills trail.

We had a buddy ahead of us on the trail for the last klick.  See him in the picture above?

Kananaskis & Banff May-June 2014

Ken had a Board Basics workshop in Turner Valley so we went together.  Stayed the first night in Bragg Creek after doing the old Elbow Falls hike.

The Powderface Trail road was closed so we drove highway 1 to the hostel at kananaskis. Did Troll Falls (?) and had nachos at the pub

Then drove the Spray Lakes forestry road to Canmore.

Had dinner with Chris n Christie n his sis in Banff then walked around beautiful Two Jack Lake (beside Lake Minnewanka)

It was Sunday morning and I felt like I was in church.

One day at Coliseum Mountain

We took Friday off to go on a long camping weekend but it poured  rain all day.  Saturday we decided to try a one day trip to nordegg.  We left about 10:30 am and got to coliseum mountain about 1:30 pm.
